Privacy Policy
We built JobResume! to be private by default: no account, no database, and your resume stored on your own device. This policy explains exactly what leaves your browser, where it goes, and what we keep.
Your resume stays on your device
JobResume! has no user accounts and no database. Your resume, cover letters, and other content are stored locally in your browser and are never saved on our servers.
- Your resume content, cover letters, and saved job details are kept in your browser using localStorage
- We do not require account creation or registration
- We do not maintain a database of users and do not store your contact details or resume content on our servers
- Clearing your browser storage permanently removes this data — we cannot recover it for you
AI-powered features
Some features are optional and only run when you choose to use them — for example tailoring your resume to a job, importing an existing CV, generating a cover letter, reviewing your resume, parsing a job posting, generating a section, or practicing a mock interview. When you use one of these features, the data needed for that task leaves your browser and is processed by a third-party AI provider.
What is sent (only for the feature you run):
- Relevant parts of your resume, which may include your name, contact details, work history, education, and skills
- The job description, title, or company you provide, and — for the "fetch from URL" option — the job posting link
- For CV import: the file or text you upload (processed to extract its contents)
- For mock interviews: the questions and your answers in that session
How it is handled:
- Requests pass through our server only to reach the AI provider — we do not store or log your resume content, job data, or the AI results
- By default, requests are routed through OpenRouter to a language model
- If you supply your own API key, your data is sent to the provider you choose instead (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or DeepSeek). API keys you enter are used only to make that request and are not stored on our servers
- When you fetch a job by URL, our server retrieves the public page on your behalf; the link and page contents are not stored
Data you send through these features is subject to the privacy practices of the AI provider that processes it. Please review the policy of your chosen provider — for the default, OpenRouter's Privacy Policy. Avoid entering information you are not comfortable sharing with a third-party AI service.
